Friends
A sea otter and a red panda were best friends, but lived separately in their own backyards with a fence.
The red panda’s owner was strict and wouldn’t let the panda climb over the fence,
so the panda and sea otter often communicated through the backyard fence and just liked being around each other.
They didn’t like being separated because it was no fun playing in between the fence.
The red panda asks, "Why can’t you just climb over the fence?"
The sea otter responds, "I don’t like being on land, I like being in my pool. Why don’t you come over here?"
"I can’t. You know that."
Suddenly, the red panda had a secret plan to make the sea otter come over.
The red panda got to digging a big circular hole in the backyard secretly without alarming the sea otter or its owner.
Everytime the owner came out to refill the panda’s water bowl, the panda would drink some then pour the rest into the hole.
This repeated until the hole had enough water.
When finished, the red panda asked again, “Why can’t you come over the fence to play with me?”
The sea otter says, “Because I like my pool and you know I don't like being on land.”
The panda says, “ But I have a small water pond for you in my backyard.”
The sea otter peers through the fence and sees the water!
The otter jumps over the fence and hops into the water in the panda’s background.
They were so happy to spend time together in the yard and spent hours playing together and splashing in the water.
“You’re the best friend ever!” exclaims the otter.
